This past Friday, Donna Duperron, President & CEO attended the Schriever Wall of Honor Ceremony at Space Systems Command, Los Angeles Air Force Base.  In November 2007, the Space & Missile Systems Center dedicated a Statue and Wall as the General Schriever Memorial.  Recognition of the earliest pioneers who made a tremendous contribution to our community began in 2014.  Every year additional pioneers are chosen to have their names added to the Schriever Wall of Honor.

General Schriever had the enormous responsibility to develop America’s first operational ballistic missile systems, and the first Air Force military space programs.  He established and implemented management techniques that allowed his team to rapidly develop and deploy the Atlas and Titan ICBMs and the Thor intermediate-range ballistic missile by 1962 under extremely compressed development schedules.

Welcoming those in attendance was Lt General Michael A. Guetlein, Commander, Space Systems Command, Los Angeles Air Force Base.  Assisting in recognizing the 2020 and 2021 Schriever Wall of Honor recipients was Major General (Ret) Thomas D. Taverney, former Vice Commander Headquarters Air Force Space Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado.  Honorees included: Honorable Edward C. Aldridge, Jr., David Altman, General Lester L. Lyles, Dr. Ruben F. Mettler, Honorable Peter B. Teets, Colonel Lonnie Q. Westmoreland, Dr. Wanda M. Austin, Norman R. Augustine, Colonel Frank S. Buzard, Colonel Oliver W. Fix, General Ellen M. Pawlikowski, and Edna Sugihara.
