The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce welcomes Zoey as an intern focused on Communications and Legislative Affairs. With a strong passion for policy and advocacy, Zoey brings experience in peer advocacy, public speaking, and legislative outreach.
Her interest in legislative affairs began in middle school through her school’s Speech and Debate club, where she participated in mock debates on real legislative issues. “That club helped not only improve my self-confidence, but also my research skills and interest in different government questions.”
Starting in high school, Zoey became active in Model United Nations, Mock Trial, and Speech and Debate, further strengthening her passion for advocacy and argumentation. Zoey also serves on the City of Torrance Youth Council and interns for Senator Ben Allen, where she works to advocate for the needs and interests of her peers.
During high school, Zoey is working toward Associate degrees in General Studies, Administration of Justice, and Political Science through the North High School Concurrent Enrollment Program. After graduating, she plans to major in Criminal Law at UCLA before pursuing law school at Stanford. “I’ve always wanted to become a District Attorney or criminal defense attorney in order to ensure that everyone has access to strong legal representation that truly listens to their perspective. Stanford has always been the dream for law school.”
Now entering her senior year of high school, Zoey is eager to apply her experience in her role at the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce. “I have always been interested in finding new ways to help my city, and I’m glad to have found a new outlet for my time and ideas.”
Outside of work, Zoey enjoys crocheting, reading, baking, and solving mind puzzles. “I’ve always loved making different crafts and handmade projects to show people that I care, and I enjoy reading and puzzles as ways to keep my mind engaged in my free time.”
Zoey also enjoys visiting antique fairs and farmers markets both in Torrance and surrounding communities. “I love seeing the hard work and dedication that different stalls and small businesses put into their products, and how passionate they are about what they sell.”
The Chamber is excited to have Zoey on board and looks forward to her contributions in Communications. Please join us in welcoming Zoey to the Chamber team!
