The City of Torrance Armed Forces Celebration has been canceled this year due to Covid-19.  The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce has hosted a 5K for Freedom prior to the parade.  Due to the fact the chamber is unable to host the 5K for Freedom this year, a 31-day Salute to our Armed Forces has been created.  This salute will recognize the members of the United States military and honor veterans of each branch.

“As Americans, we enjoy a special and privileged life. We owe our rights and privileges to everyday citizens that make a personal commitment to serve our great country.  While the pandemic has forced the community to cancel the Armed Forces Celebration and 5K for Freedom, the pride we feel towards our military will not be dissuaded,” stated Dan Armendariz, former chairman of the board and District Manager, California Water Service Company.

Chamber businesses are submitting a photo that will be highlighted on the chamber’s social media platforms throughout the month of May. A collection of all 31 photos will also be displayed on the chamber’s website and a six will be featured in Chamber Weekly.  We will highlight the patriotism and appreciation for the sacrifices the men and women of the armed forces have made to secure our freedom. A special thank you to Stan Gray, owner of Fast Signs, who has generously donated patriotic signs to be used in photos.

May is #NationalMilitaryAppreciationMonth where we recognize, celebrate, and honor veterans and active military members, and their families, for their service to our country. All of us at Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce are forever grateful for our U.S. military.

Be sure to check out the Chamber’s social media on FacebookInstagram and Twitter to see the various businesses showing appreciation for our Armed Forces.
