Coastal CleanUp Day is the largest volunteer day on the planet, which is coordinated with the Ocean Conservancy, California Coastal Commission, L.A. Department of Beaches and Harbors and Heal the Bay. Torrance recognizes that by cleaning the beaches, the community is participating in this global effort to keep our oceans healthy, to keep our water source healthy, and to keep our community healthy.
“Cleanups are the ‘last defense’ against ocean pollution, preventing debris from harming marine life, economies, and public health. The City, in partnership with the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce and Heal the Bay, has participated in the Coastal Cleanup event for decades. This partnership affords us an opportunity to contribute to the removal of harmful marine debris, engage with a community of volunteers, and foster a deeper connection to our local environment. Coastal Cleanup not only brings friends, family, and the community together to clean the beach, but this annual event also fosters fellowship and fun,” stated Leslie Cortez, Senior Administrative Analyst, NPDES, City of Torrance.
Team Torrance will be back on the beach participating for a record 28th year! This year’s event will take place on Saturday, September 20th, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Miramar Park in Torrance.
