The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce will host the 24th Annual Black History Celebration on February 13, bringing together business and community leaders to honor individuals making a lasting impact in the Torrance Area. This year’s celebration will recognize five distinguished honorees for their leadership, service, and contributions to the community.
Among those being recognized is Natisha Echevarria, Principal & Head of Schools at Valor Christian Academy, whose leadership in education has been instrumental in guiding students toward success, fostering an environment that emphasizes critical thinking, strong values, and community engagement.
“It is deeply humbling to receive this recognition because I know that it is the Lord who establishes leaders, and He has graciously assembled a team of teachers and staff members at Valor Christian Academy that I get to work with who are committed to the mission of developing strong, courageous leaders within our students. I am dedicated to continuing to serve our community and promote Christian education to prepare students to be well-rounded individuals who think critically, understand a Biblical worldview, and contribute to the betterment of others,” said Echevarria.
The celebration serves as a moment to recognize leadership, dedication, and the impact of individuals who continue to uplift and strengthen the community. The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce congratulates all honorees for their outstanding contributions: Reggie Cheney, Sunrider International; Natisha Echevarria, Valor Christian Academy; Josh Gezahegn, The Volunteer Center South Bay – Harbor – Long Beach; Evelyn Lynch, C.L. Lynch Mortuary; and Brenda Thames, El Camino College. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from honorees, network with fellow community members, and celebrate the achievements of individuals dedicated to creating positive change.
