Facio – “Your People Solution”
Chairwoman of the Board
Mistee Ruiz steps into her role as Chairwoman of the Board with a clear vision and a people-first approach. As the founder of Facio – “Your People Solution” and an engaged Chamber member for nearly a decade, she brings experience, focus, and a commitment to driving collaboration forward. Her perspective on the Chamber, its role in the business community, and what she hopes to accomplish in the year ahead reflects a deep commitment to connection and progress.
Can you share a little about your background and what brought you to the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce?
In 2015, I started Facio – “Your People Solutions.” I was looking for networking resources, building relationships, and I happened to meet Donna here at the Chamber. We built a relationship and realized that, in spite of the distance it is from my business, the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce was a gem. We had mutual core benefits of collaboration, integrity, and passion, and it just made sense to continue the relationship and drive the distance.
What inspired you to take on the role of Chairwoman of the Board?
What inspired me to take on the role of Chairwoman of the Board is those before me: Kirk Rossberg, Sherry Kramer, Laurie Brandt. Those other individuals in the community that make this Chamber so strong, and frankly, those that come after me.
As you step into this position, what are you most excited about for the year ahead?
I am most excited about the opportunity for continued growth and innovation through the Chamber. We have lots of members, and the more minds the better the ideas, so I am very excited about that.
What role do you see the Chamber playing in supporting local businesses right now?
The roles that I see the Chamber playing are multifaceted. I see the Chamber playing the advocacy role for government, policy, and change. I also see the Chamber playing a role as a resource for businesses and a networking resource and helping others build relationships. The third is as a sounding board. There’s lots of knowledge, lots of good ideas and great people, and being a sounding board for each other is invaluable.
Is there anything you’d like Chamber members to know as you begin your term?
I would like members to know that this is truly an opportunity. An opportunity to collaborate with others that are in the same space. Commerce is about people, and if you are around people and the objective is positive, obviously, that is what you are going to get. You are going to get a positive influence and great ideas.
Ruiz enters her term with a clear sense of purpose, inspired by those who have shaped the Chamber and motivated by the members who continue to drive it forward.
