The Torrance Chamber of Commerce will launch the second part of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) series on March 11, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. This event will be virtual.
“The second event will be a Business Roundtable where two businesses will share their thoughts about how they create a sense of belonging in their workplace and answer questions the facilitator poses. The idea is that this panel discussion will build upon the first event to bring more clarity and concrete examples for smaller chamber businesses to glean from because they may not have the same resources or knowledge in comparison to their larger contemporaries,” stated Barbara Graham, Vice Chair of DEI.
One of the two panelists is Fabienne Smolinski-Lopez, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for Pelican Products. Fabienne manages and leads the global strategy for all HR functions, Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG), Corporate Communications and Philanthropy. Smolinski-Lopez has over 20 years of experience as a human resources leader with success in fostering culture for both start-up and Fortune 500 companies.
The second panelist is Jennifer “Jae” Pi’ilaniwahine Requiro, Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for AEG. In her role, she develops, implements, and drives the DEI strategy for AEG. In 2016, Jae wrote the Foreword to a best-selling business book on diversity and inclusion by Jennifer Brown, “Inclusion: Diversity, The New Workplace, and The Will to Change”.
The facilitator, Farzana Nayani is a recognized Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion specialist, coach, and international keynote speaker. She has worked with Fortune 500 corporations, public agencies, higher education institutions, school districts, and non-profit organizations as a consultant and trainer on diversity and inclusion, intercultural communication, supplier diversity, and employee engagement.
