[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text width=”1/1″ el_position=”first last”]goodwillThis past week I was invited to attend an open house, tour, and lunch of the Goodwill facility in Long Beach. Welcomed by Janet McCarthy, President & CEO, guests were introduced to several students, board members, and staff.

Goodwill was established in 1929 in response to the Great Depression. Today, Goodwill Southern Los Angeles County has expanded to provide employment services and job opportunities for a large, culturally diverse and growing community.

Gina Johnson, Director of Human Relations and Corporate Compliance, guided attendees through the training programs offered by Goodwill, which bridge the gap between community and business.

“Goodwill partners with the community, transforming donated goods into job training, education, and placement services for individuals with barriers to employment,” stated Gina.

Kimberly Daniels, a student in the Certified Nurse Assistant Training program, commented that she has a passion for helping people and that’s what she wants to do the rest of her life. “Goodwill has provided me with a wonderful opportunity,” said Daniels.

“This event provided a lot of “quick facts” that helped attendees understand the history, mission, and current direction of Goodwill. Thank you for this valuable insight and for being a Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce member.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator height_2=”25″ height=”25″ show_border=”yes_border”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]donna-duperron[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text width=”1/1″ el_position=”first last”]posted by
