Success is often measured in different ways. For individuals, success can be personal, measured by happiness, fulfillment, and progress toward personal goals. In business, success is measured using metrics like profit, revenue, customer satisfaction, and return on investment.

Steve Hernandez, owner of TNT Aloha Café, is both a successful individual, and a successful business leader.  As I sat down with Steve and listened to his journey, his career path and his goals, it didn’t take long to realize that he had determination and passion.

“As a kid, I was always curious.  It was ingrained in me, from an early age, to work hard.  I always saw the grit that my dad had. Several of my relatives owned restaurants and I  dreamed one day of opening my own,’ explained Steve.

Steve began working at TNT Aloha Café as a teenager.  His first job was as a dishwasher. Through his hard work and passion, he was provided the opportunity to learn every position in the restaurant’s operation.

In 2019, Steve officially took ownership of the Torrance-based Hawaiian restaurant, committed to preserving its roots while bringing fresh energy to the menu and experience. “I am thankful to have such a great support system and customer base.  We have created a relaxed atmosphere where customers can feel like they are at home, just like those four men sitting over there,” stated Steve. As he pointed to the group of men, he explained that they go fishing on Thursday mornings and then have lunch at the restaurant.

As an owner, Steve’s daily routine varies.  He shops for supplies, he serves as a line cook, and he assists with marketing.  “Whatever the restaurant needs, I am there,” he smiled.

With a deep love for Hawaiian food, community, and hospitality, Steve continues to keep the TNT’s legacy strong, earning the loyalty of longtime locals and new guests alike. TNT Aloha Café is located at 24032 Vista Montana, Torrance.
