Jack Walser

By: Donna Duperron

Jack Walser will be recognized as the 2025 Distinguished Citizen of the Year at the State of the City Address on Friday, September 12th.

Presented by the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce, the Distinguished Citizen of the Year award is a tradition since 1953 honoring individuals whose work has significantly benefitted others.

Walser volunteered and was appointed to fill a one-year Torrance City Council vacancy; served as a chairperson and member of the Torrance Water Commission and participated on many committees including the Chair of the Citizen’s Development and Enrichment.

A longtime chamber member, Walser served in the capacity of Small Business Council chair and was named Ambassador of the Year in 2017.

He has been a leader for more than a decade at the Salvation Army Torrance Corps, raising funds, advising on projects, organizing community safety programs, and volunteering for food, toy, and backpack drives.

Beyond Torrance, Walser has volunteered for 13 seasons at the United States Adaptive Recreation Center in Big Bear Lake, teaching adults and children with disabilities how to ski, giving them confidence and joy on the slopes.
