This past week, I was honored to have attended the South Bay Promise Signing Ceremony hosted by El Camino College.
Dr. Dena P. Maloney, El Camino College Superintendent/President invited the superintendents from the school districts served by the El Camino Community College District (ECCCD) South Bay Promise Program.
As explained by Dr. Maloney, the program waives enrollment fees for the first year of college and provides additional support services to ensure success for recent high school graduates in the ECCCD.
California State Senator Ben Allen stated that the program creates an exciting opportunity for South Bay students. “Education changes lives and this program will assist students in so many ways,” exclaimed Allen.
In attendance were representatives from El Segundo, Inglewood, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance and Wiseburn Unified School Districts, as well as Centinela Valley Union High School District.
The signing ceremony was an extraordinary event that brought together individuals from several sectors to celebrate education.
