Congratulations, Kiwanis Club of Torrance!

This past Friday evening, 80 individuals gathered to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Kiwanis Club of Torrance. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child, one community at a time.

Celebrating with a 1960’s theme, several of those attending dressed in tie-dyed tee shirts and bellbottoms, go-go boots and bright, colorful, floral dresses. Tables were decorated with peace sign necklaces, replicas of 45s and a flower power van. Mojo A Gogo provided live music from the 1960’s.

As a past president of this organization from 2007 – 2009, I was so proud to be in attendance.  The Kiwanis Club of Torrance has continually assisted in the partnership and sponsorship of so many different organizations including but not limited to: Friends of Torrance Exceptional Athletes, Harbor UCLA Medical Center, Kiwanis Benjamin Aranda III scholarship fund, Torrance-South Bay YMCA, Switzer Learning Center, The Salvation Army, Pediatric Therapy Network and Children’s Miracle Network.

Several past Kiwanis Club of Torrance presidents attended this event including: Lisa Applegate-McGinty, Christine Elia, Michael Friedman, Milton Herring, Dave Holper, Curtis Jones Jr, Laurie Love, Steve Makshanoff, Jennifer Olvera, Kevin Paul, Carina Sokolich and Cathie Wachter. Past Lieutenant Governors in attendance were Tony Molino, Laurie Love, Cathie Wachter and Lawrence Martin.

The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce thanks the Kiwanis Club of Torrance for being a member for 14 years and extends appreciation for the outstanding community service your organization provides.
