Community leaders and Teja’s long-time supporters joined together for a memorable ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration of Tamiza’s Treats in 2017.

As with all of my ‘Out & About’ visits to chamber member businesses, I am in awe of the roots of the idea that sparked the new venture, the vision of inspiring leaders within each organization and what the business creates or does.

In visiting with Tamiza Teja, chef/owner of Tamiza’s Treats, I thoroughly enjoyed perusing her retail location and learning about her road to success.

Tamiza’s Treats Artisan Treats and Gift Boutique opened in October of 2017 offering a range of small tea cakes, biscotti and other cookies, fudge, small soda breads, caramel corn, and more! Tamiza’s offers a selection of gluten-free items, dairy-free items, vegan items and no-sugar added items.

Prior to the retail store front, Tamiza’s Treats opened in 2013 at CRAFTED in San Pedro. “The transition from CRAFTED to a retail store front was fun and challenging at the same time. I had to look at marketing and promotion differently,” stated Teja.

Celebrating her one year anniversary, Teja has found the community and customers very supportive. “Our first customer on opening day, October 27, 2017 brought his receipt back on October 27, 2018 to present it to me. It was for a lemon pound cake,” smiled Teja.

Tamiza’s Treats offers everything made from scratch. “Growing up I always enjoyed making Christmas cookies and cakes with my mom, who spends time in my shop now and then. When I was fourteen, I wanted to try some new things. One Saturday, I made a double-crusted apple pie, a chocolate roll, a pineapple cheesecake, and cream puffs complete with pastry cream and chocolate sauce – all for the first time! Not only did everything come out great, I really enjoyed it! I took that as a sign that this was something I was meant to do,” Teja shared.

In addition to the treats, a boutique featuring jewelry, greeting cards, key chains, magnets and works of other high quality local artisans can be found in the store front. A portion of the proceeds from many of the items sold in Teja’s store are donated to charitable organizations that are dear to her heart.

The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce thanks Tamiza’s Treats for being a Chamber member.
