Small Business Week provides extra incentive for residents to “Shop Local” for the holidays at their local small businesses. Select businesses around Torrance will provide discounts on their goods and services during the first week of December.

Shopping local is an investment in the local economy.

“Small Business Week is a fantastic way to create awareness of the small businesses in Torrance and what they offer,” says Samia Zaki of Fox Drugs of Torrance. “When you shop at small businesses, you support the community, because every dollar you spend at a local small business stays local, whereas when you spend money with large corporations, that money could go anywhere.”

In 2010, American Express founded Small Business Saturday, to occur the day after Black Friday. The Torrance Chamber has since expanded upon the idea of Small Business Saturday by creating Small Business Week, to support local businesses for an extended period.

“Small Business Week is also about personal connections,” says Mike Griffiths, Torrance City Councilman. “Personal connections with businesses can only really be made at small businesses, which are driven by such interactions, as opposed to the anonymous, impersonal experience of a large chain store, where employees are constantly changing.”[/vc_column_text][vc_separator height_2=”25″ height=”25″ show_border=”no_border”][vc_button label=”See which businesses are participating.” target=”_self” size=”large” style=”light” url=”https://www.torrancechamber.com/small-business-week/”][vc_separator height_2=”50″ height=”50″ show_border=”no_border”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_separator height_2=”50″ height=”50″ show_border=”no_border”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]
