Visiting Angles provides care for people with Alzheimer’s, dementia, palliative care and other professional personal support. From left to right: Lynn Ingram, Julie Covey, Joyce Barney, Marian Karons, Duane, Karons are all individuals who genuinely care about their community.

For the past seven years, I have visited chamber members to learn about their business and in turn share their products and/or services with the readers of this newsletter.  I am continually impressed with the types of businesses I visit, but I am even more fascinated with the people who make up that business.

Last week, I had the opportunity to meet Marian and Duane Karons, owners of Visiting Angels in Torrance.  The Karons are passionate about their business and what they do, as are Joyce Barney, Lynne Ingram and Julie Covey who complete their office staff.

As I entered the Visiting Angels office, I was welcomed and honestly felt like I was on vacation in a lovely coastal boutique. The office was decorated with a beach theme, but I understand that the décor changes with the various seasons and holidays.  Also adorning the walls were images of angels, complimented by a large angel near the front door.

The Karons became proud owners of Visiting Angels in 2009 which provided them with an opportunity to give back to their community. In 2009, they began with three caregivers and one client. Each year the business has grown which led Visiting Angels to be named a Provider of Choice and a Trusted Provider. They now have 75 caregivers and 54 clients.

“Everything in our business is driven by angels, smiled Karons as she affectionally referenced the memories of Stan Hickman and Rosyln Davis. Visiting Angels will help your loved one continue to live at home, and we’ll help you find peace of mind.”

Visiting Angels provides the following types of care, Alzheimer’s; companion care; dementia; end of life; palliative; personal; ready-set-go-home; personal; safe and steady fall prevention and social care. Their service area includes Torrance, Palos Verdes Peninsula, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Gardena.

Home care providers are professionals who receive support and ongoing training.  In fact, Julie Covey of Torrance was named as one of the 10 semi-finalists for its National Caregiver of the Year award. The prestigious honor recognizes Visiting Angels caregivers for their overall contribution and commitment to delivering quality care to the clients and families they serve, as well as how they embody the company’s compassionate values and demonstrate excellence. The semi-finalists were selected from entries throughout the 600 Visiting Angels franchise locations across the country.

As I continued to learn about Visiting Angels, I also learned more about Marian, Duane, Joyce, Lynne, and Julie.  They are extremely passionate about what they do, but they are also individuals who genuinely care about those in their community.

The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce thanks Visiting Angels for their chamber membership and applauds their commitment to serving seniors with the highest quality home care.
