Over 300 people packed the banquet hall at the Double Tree Hotel for Torrance Mayor Patrick Furey’s second annual State of the City Address. During the address, Mayor Furey made two big announcements. First, the City of Torrance is exploring options to install a red car trolley service throughout the city. Second, the fourth of July fireworks show, which ended in 2011, will return to Torrance next year. Mayor Furey also provided updates on on-going economic development efforts within the city and informed the community on current and forecasted projects. The event ended with the Torrance Chamber’s “Distinguished Citizen of the Year” award presentation to De De Hicks, President and CEO of the Volunteer Center. Check out all the great photos from the event here.
